As part of Solmedia’s 90th Anniversary celebrations, the team came together on Friday 4th October to celebrate the incredible achievement and milestone of 90 years running, reflecting on the founding of Solmedia Ltd back on 5th October 1934 and the journey to where the company is now. Some members of the team showed great dedication and made a special journey to join everyone, with members travelling across the country and overseas to be together for the celebrations.
The day began with a wonderful sightseeing tour of Shropshire and Snowdonia from the air, thanks to the accommodating staff at Whizzard Helicopters in Welshpool.
The tours consisted of an aerial view of the historic town of Shrewsbury and the surrounding countryside, and also the mountains of Snowdonia National Park, circling the peaks of Yr Wyddfa and Tryfan, before heading back via Porthmadog, the Italian-themed village of Portmeirion, and Lake Vyrnwy.
The team then made their way to Rowton Castle for a three-course meal with live music from Pianist Alex Roberts in the grand and stately castle and grounds, near Shrewsbury, Shropshire. The castle’s history dates back to the year 1234, a mere 700 years prior to Solmedia Ltd.! The celebratory meal was followed by ‘the cutting of the cake’ by Directors Gordon Wallach, Nick Wallach and James Wallach and an inspiring speech from Gordon Wallach on the history of Solmedia and the introduction of some major milestones that have helped shape the biomedical industry today.
